What data we collect
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account. This is used solely for authentication and displaying your profile within the app.
The app stores the following data locally on your device and, if you sign in, synced to our cloud service:
- Search history (words you have looked up)
- Review cards and review logs (your spaced repetition progress)
- App settings and preferences
How we use your data
- Authentication: Your Google account information is used to identify you and enable cross-device sync.
- Cloud sync: Your search history, review data, and settings are synced across your devices so you can continue learning seamlessly.
- Audio pronunciation: Dictionary audio files are served from our CDN. No personal data is sent with audio requests.
Third-party services
Deckionary uses the following third-party services:
- Google Sign-In — for authentication (Privacy Policy)
- Firebase — for app infrastructure (Privacy Policy)
- Supabase — for cloud database and authentication (Privacy Policy)
- Cloudflare — for CDN and content delivery (Privacy Policy)
Data storage and security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on AWS). All data is isolated per user through row-level security policies. Data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS.
Local data on your device is stored in a SQLite database accessible only to the app.
Data retention and deletion
Your data is retained as long as you have an account. You can sign out at any time, and your local data will be preserved on your device. To request deletion of your cloud data, contact us at the email below.
Children's privacy
Deckionary is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
